The email/calendar server used by faculty and staff, mailbox-01.hmc.edu, will be moving to new, faster hardware this upcoming Saturday night/Sunday morning (October 18-19) from midnight to 6:00 am. Mailbox-01.hmc.edu will not be available during this time. Your email will be stored and delivered as soon as mailbox-01.hmc.edu is back online.
We will also be moving the student email/calendar server, mailbox-02.hmc.edu, to new, faster hardware this upcoming Sunday night/Monday morning (October 19-20) from midnight to 6:00 am. Mailbox-02.hmc.edu will not be available during this time. Your email will be stored and delivered as soon as mailbox-02.hmc.edu is back online. We will also be upgrading the server software on mailbox-02.hmc.edu from Zimbra server version 4.5 to version 5.0. CIS is reorganizing to create a new unit which will be dedicated to the support of educational technology activities and initiatives. Under “educational technology” we would include classroom audio-visual services, support of Sakai and, generally, any educational activities that rely on
Elizabeth Hodas, who currently leads the User Support unit, has agreed to lead the new
Educational Technology group. Elizabeth is looking forward to dedicating herself fully to working with faculty and students in her new role.
This means that we have an opening for a group leader for the User Support Unit. We have posted that position and are actively recruiting to fill it. We hope to fill the position by November 1st, which would allow us to move forward with the creation of the new unit. If we have not filled the User Support position by November 1, Elizabeth will continue in her current position as Group Leader, User Support, until we do.
